Morning Update

Nubby is doing fantastic. In fact I've never seen a rat recover so fast after tumor surgery. Usually when i bring a rat home they are kinda slow and they sleep but not Nubby. She's running around and doing what she normally does. I keep trying to get her to rest but she won't. But, she did sleep threw the night so that's good.

I just called the vet and left a message on their service thanking everyone from the doc and the staff for taking such good care of her and to let them know she's doing wonderful this morning. I had to cut the message short because stupid me started crying. I was thanking them and i said "Thank you for taking such good care of her, this rat is like one of the loves of my life" when i got to 'this rat is like' i started crying and tried to hide that rumbling in my voice so i said it fast and said thank you again and hung up. I started crying, I'm such a doofus lol.

Her stitches look good. She is licking them but i haven't seen her trying to remove anything. I don't even see any stitches. I think when Saffy had her tumor removed over 2 years ago the vet told me with rats they use a device that hides the stitches inside. Am i correct with that, or did i hear that wrong? Because i see no stitches but you can tell it is stitched up because of the wrinkled tightness on the incision.

Her abscesses look great. I'd been trying to treat them at home so this was perfect timing because the vet took care of those as well. She had 3 small abscesses from when she got in that silly fight with Wendy. They weren't bad at first but over like the last 6 days they started to abscess so this was perfect timing because the vet cleaned them up really good, i guess he lanced them? They don't have that puss-smell anymore- Yuck.

Nubby was sent home with 2 meds- An or Baytril/Doxy oral ATB and a topical ATB, it says Baytril/'Siliadene'. I can't really tell because i can't read the persons writing, anyone ever heard of something called 'Siliadene'? I'm probably reading it wrong. It's a pink creamy stuff. The oral ATB's Nubby got smells so good, it's Bubble Gum flavor and SHE loves it!!! But, she can only have 0.2 twice a day. I have to pull the syringe from her lol. She doesn't want to let it go.

So everything is fine, Nubby is doing so good. I have her right here at the desk with me. I just put her here 5 minutes ago and she's already curled up in an upright ball sound asleep. I guess putting her here with me was a good idea because on the bed she wouldn't go to sleep, she wanted to play and explore. The desk area makes her sleepy for some reason. She needs her rest so I'm happy she's sleeping now.

Ok, well... I'll do an evening update and take more pics at some point today and I'll make a video of her as well today.

Thank you for all your prayers and positive thinking and THANK YOU for the donations!!! I can't thank you all enough for the kind donations that made this happen.

Rebecca,
I'm so glad Nubby's doing so well!
I think that might be Silvadene creme. I got it for my radiation burns, it works really well.

Hugs, Ilona
